Nomad Drive Cars: Which Vehicles Players Find

Community-reported Nomad Drive vehicles: the starter van you build from parts, campers and RVs found on the road, and why seed choice changes your run.

Nomad Drive doesn't hand you a car list to choose from. You build your first vehicle out of loose parts, then find others parked out in the world and either strip them or move your parts into them. Player reports describe three broad types showing up in the demo: a small starter van, a camper or mobile home, and a larger RV — plus a plain car spotted in the desert that the player who found it never tried to start. Because worlds are generated from a seed, which vehicles you meet and where you meet them is not the same for every run.

Most of what's below comes from the Steam discussion thread "other vehicles?" and a demo playthrough video. Treat the timings as player estimates, not fixed spawn rules.

Your first vehicle is assembled, not bought

The playthrough opens in a house with parts lying around: wheels, engine, steering wheel, handbrake, battery, radiator, seats, doors, lights. You carry them to the RV shell in the garage and attach them one at a time until it starts. The host calls his "the hippie van," and later loot labels in the world mention a "hippie van turn signal" — so the bus-style starter van is at least one named variant, with others like a "C-class rear bumper" appearing as separate part names.

Two small things from that run are worth knowing going in:

  • The radiator accepted water. The host spent a long time hunting for coolant, then found water worked for the fill step. This is one player's experience in the demo, not a documented rule — there's a separate radiator and coolant guide if you want the detail.
  • Parts are physical objects with condition values. Tires and radiators show percentages, and you can hold a spare in the back. The host kept a 55% radiator as a backup rather than discarding it.

The vehicles players have reported

VehicleWhere players say they found it
Basic van (VW-bus style)Spawns in the starting area — this is the one you assemble
Mobile home / camperUnder a watchtower, roughly 5–10 minutes of driving
Larger RV with fridge and toiletNear a tower structure; another player found one at a gas station, another at the first stop after leaving the house
Regular carOpen desert, about 20 minutes of driving — the finder didn't attempt to start it

The thread also has a four-hours-of-driving report with no second vehicle at all, which is the clearest sign that these are seed-dependent spawns rather than fixed landmarks. One player who tested it says that reusing the same world seed reproduces the same objects in the same places, and describes running with a friend on seed 13: a camper waiting about five minutes after setting off past the poles on the left side of the road, and a second one within about thirty minutes.

Upgrading by moving your parts

The interesting part of the vehicle system is that nothing is permanently tied to one shell. In the playthrough, the host drives to a tower, finds a bigger RV, and simply detaches the engine, battery, radiator, wheels, seats, doors and lights from the old van and reattaches them to the new one — including a hippie-van door that fit the new vehicle and a bumper that didn't. He kept the small van as a fallback and ended up with a working fridge, a stove and furniture he could pick up and place inside.

That's also why spare parts matter. The thread's co-op player recommends collecting extra engines, wheels and radiators so two people can keep two campers running rather than abandoning the first one.

If you've driven a long way and found nothing

These are suggestions based on how players describe world generation, not tested fixes:

  • If you're several hours in without a second vehicle, it may be worth starting a fresh run with a seed you can write down and reuse, since players report the same seed rebuilding the same world.
  • Sweep structures rather than the road itself — watchtowers, gas stations and tower-like buildings are where the reported finds cluster.
  • Keep your starter van roadworthy even after you find something better; a spare radiator, tire and battery in the back is cheap insurance against a broken wheel mid-route.

For vehicle-adjacent detail, see the RV page, all vehicles and the radiator guide. The fan-run hub at nomaddrive.online collects this kind of repair and exploration material and describes the demo as launching June 15, 2026, with the full game planned for Q3 2026 — so the reports above are demo-era and may not survive into release.
